Overview

With years of experience in wireless equipment, ZTE took the lead of the industry in launching distributed soft site base stations. The soft site base stations are “distributed” compared with traditional centralized base stations, physically separating the base band part from the radio frequency part of traditional base stations and connecting them with standard base band radio frequency interface (CPRI/OBSAI).The base band part and the radio frequency part of traditional base stations respectively constitute innovative BBU (Base Band Unit) and RRU (Remote RF Unit), meeting networking needs of operators in various scenarios.

Values to customer

Fast deployment
Compact dimensions and light weight readily for transportation and installation; ideal for base station erection by one single person; labor cost reduced by 60% compared with traditional base stations

Low energy consumption
Only one pair of fiber optic cables is necessary between BBU and RRU for 3 sector, radio frequency loss reduced by 2~3 dB, and equipment energy consumption reduced by 40%

CFR + DPD + Dorherty power amplification design significantly enhance the power amplification power, with RRU’s power amplification power being at 40%, reducing energy consumption by over 55% compared with traditional products.

Compact design

RRU is ready to be installed on towers, building roofs hung on walls, and BBU can be fixed in instrument shafts, basement, any 19” standard rack, for zero area occupation.

Less supporting facilities

Transmission shared by 1X and DO, with less transmission resources

RRU is ready to be installed outdoor; BBU installed indoors typically consumes energy no higher than 150 W; and with national ventilation for heat dissipation, air conditioning is omitted (electricity cost reduced by RMB 9,000 based on the energy consumption of a 1.5 p air conditioner)

Significantly reduced power consumption, with less power supply facilities

Sufficient sharing of base band resources, with reduced machine rooms

Smooth Evolution
Industry-leading open uTCA architecture, highly reliable power supply management, high integration level

Smooth evolution to LTE, support for CDMA2000 / WCDMA / GSM / LTE /WiMAX base stations, simplifying management.
